Ian nods and walks over to sit on Derek's bed, feeling guilty that he's too preoccupied thinking about his father to worry about Jackson, but he can't help it

Alex lies on his side on the bed he shared with Daryl for a few nights at the school. He stares straight ahead and his eyes are red and puffy from crying but there don't seem to be any tears left

The door is slammed open and the stink of alcohol and a screaming voice pulls Ian from his sleep. The dark giant grabs the front of the boy's pyjama shirt and the other hand curls into a fist and meets his face again and again.
Ian jolts upright in one of the field beds in the cafeteria with a scream. His heart hammers in his chest and he notices that his face is wet from tears

Jackson: I was lucky enough, I didn't see his rage. All I know is that Derek hates him but that doesn't mean we have to. That doesn't mean we can't try to squash all of this; he's our father Ian. You always had Peter but I've never had anyone to call dad....I want to atleast try to make this work
